Christopher Spong celebrates ten years at Collective Measures

Christopher started at Collective Measures ten years ago. As one of our go-to social experts, he believes in a user-centric approach to social marketing and genuinely enjoys solving business challenges with strategic ideas.

To celebrate the last ten years with Christopher, we sat down to reminisce about his tenure at Collective Measures.

Q: What made you decide to apply to Collective Measures ten years ago?

A: I was fortunate to connect with Nina Hale for an informational interview early in my career. I had heard a lot about her and her agency, but I still wasn’t sure what area of marketing and communications best suited my strengths. Fortunately, I made some kind of impression, and about two years later, Allison (now one of our co-presidents) reached out about an opening, and I jumped at the opportunity.

Q: Tell us about your first day.

A: I started at Collective Measures the day after finishing with another agency on the opposite corner of Fifth & Marquette downtown. The commute into the new office felt the same, but once I was shown to my desk, I could tell the culture was completely different. The people around me were both brilliant and kind. I felt welcomed.

Q: How has the agency’s brand + consumer engagement team, or our approach to that work, changed over the years?

A: Changing online behaviors and channels have driven adaptation and innovation. Over the last ten years, the connective tissue between SEO, content marketing, and social media has strengthened. Our team has been able to develop and combine deliverables from within the three disciplines to approach client goals in unique and innovative ways. For example, where content roadmaps previously focused only on search engine research and results, we’ve added social media insights and distribution opportunities.

Q: What is your greatest achievement during your time at Collective Measures?

A: I’m proud to have represented the agency as a featured speaker during our annual client event two years in a row. Sharing my perspective and experience with clients and peers was an honor. I look forward to developing new and interesting ways of thinking about marketing challenges to share with others.

Q: What do you envision the next ten years at Collective Measures looking like?

A: I envision the same steady growth that the agency has enjoyed since before I started. As we’ve always done, we’ll continue to focus on delivering high-quality work for our clients while staying ahead of consumer trends and industry shifts. There’s a lot to look forward to as a vested employee of the agency.

Thank you, Christopher! We are honored to have you as a pillar of our collective.
