Collective Measures Celebrates 20 Year Anniversary

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — Collective Measures, an award-winning leading media agency, celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, highlighting two decades of steady growth, measurable impact and leading with purpose in the media and marketing industry.

Founded in 2005 as Nina Hale, the agency shifted from a founder-led to leader-led organization in 2014 and became a 100% employee-owned media agency by creating an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). In 2020, the team adopted the name Collective Measures as a way to fully embrace its identity as an employee-owned organization.

“Being employee-owned means we’re committed to each other and to the values that got us here: transparency, curiosity, and accountability,” said Luke Schlegel, co-president and CFO, Collective Measures. “Simply put, our employee-owned structure frees us to follow our principles. We report to ourselves and to each other.”

The ESOP model sets Collective Measures apart from other agencies – providing a variety of unique benefits and empowering every team member to engage as an owner and partner in the firm. It’s also been appreciated by clients.

Collective Measures’ client roster spans a variety of B2B and B2C brands with global reach, and brings in an annual revenue of $25M. The agency’s robust roster includes six clients who’ve been partners for more than a decade. Retention is strong internally as well, with 125 employees and a 77.5% retention rate in the last 12 months. The CM team includes 8 employees with 10+ years of tenure and 33 employees with 5+ years of tenure.

“In a time where many agencies are merging or being acquired by holding companies, our team has found resilience and stability with our employee-owned model,” said Allison McMenimen Bakken, co-president and managing director, Collective Measures. “The benefits echo internally and externally. Our growth has been steady and consistent – with revenue doubling since our rebrand in 2020 – along with acquiring new clients across the country, we continue to add top talent to our leadership team.”

Moving into its third decade, Collective Measures continues to expand its footprint by driving data-backed, channel-agnostic strategies that actually move the needle for its clients as well as investing in current and new talent to propel the agency through diversified experience and skill.
